Bertin Koovi is running for the presidential elections in 2026. The architect of fundamental economics in Benin aims to succeed President Patrice Talon, whose actions he has supported since his return to the country.

Bertin Koovi is entering negotiations in preparation for the 2026 presidential elections. In a recent media appearance on Radio Fraternité FM, this member of the presidential movement and member of the Political Bureau of BR expressed his ambitions for 2026.

For the sake of group discipline, he will not put the cart before the horse. “I will see the President to inform him that I will be a candidate for the next Presidential election,” he declared. Bertin Koovi is advocating for a primary election within the movement, to prevent what happened in Boni Yayi’s camp in 2016.

“The candidate of the movement should receive the endorsement from President Patrice Talon. I do not wish for Patrice Talon to impose a candidate on the movement, like former President Boni Yayi did,” he indicated.

“I Have Proposals”

Bertin Koovi is not here to joke around. In any case, the former presidential candidate of 2016 states that he comes back loaded with proposals. “I have things to offer. I have ambitions for our country. I see the successes and limitations of President Patrice Talon’s governance. And I know that I can improve many things,” he said.

With three years left until the elections, Bertin Koovi is the first presidential candidate to officially announce his candidacy. However, the name that has been circulating for several years without any confirmation is Olivier Boko. Movements to encourage his candidacy have gained momentum, but the man himself remains silent.
