Poland has expressed concerns about Russian and Belarusian provocations at its eastern border. In response to the escalating tensions, the country announced a reinforcement of its surveillance capabilities in the border area, including deploying helicopters and authorizing soldiers to use their weapons if necessary.
On Thursday, Poland expressed concern over the increased risk of “provocations” coming from Russia and Belarus at its eastern border. Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki stated that both countries were intensifying their provocations, creating heightened pressure at the Polish border.
According to the Prime Minister, the actions taken by Russia and Belarus aim to destabilize, sow doubt, chaos, and uncertainty. Moreover, these provocations are intended to demonstrate the alleged weakness of NATO’s eastern flank to all partners of the Atlantic Alliance.
In response to the tense situation, Poland announced a reinforcement of its border surveillance capabilities. Polish Defense Minister Mariusz Blaszczak confirmed the deployment of helicopters to enhance surveillance. He also emphasized that Polish soldiers would be authorized to use their weapons if deemed necessary to ensure the security of the country and its citizens.
This reinforcement of the Polish border aims to address potential threats and deter any aggressive actions that could compromise the security and stability of the region.
