Senegalese judoka Maître Saïdou Nourou Touré, who held the position of First Vice President of the Senegalese Judo Federation and Associated Disciplines, has passed away at the age of 87.

On September 20, 2013, Maître Touré, renowned for introducing judo to Senegal, achieved the eighth dan. Furthermore, he earned his first dan on July 25, 1965, while serving as the President of the Grading Commission of the Senegalese Judo Federation and Associated Sports, and his second dan two years later on July 17, 1967.

On October 9, 1968, he reached the third dan, and on November 15, 1973, he attained the fourth dan. However, it took him an additional eight years to achieve the fifth dan. On December 22, 1986, Maître Saïdou Nourou Touré obtained his sixth dan black belt, and finally, on August 23, 1994, he earned his seventh dan.
