It was expected, widely reported, and now it’s official. Sadio Mané has signed his contract with Al Nassr on Friday evening.
The Saudi club confirmed the news through a message on their social media channels. The Senegalese international has signed a 3-year contract with an annual salary of approximately €40 million.
In his new club, Sadio Mané will reinforce a quality squad led by the eternal Cristiano Ronaldo. Other well-known names also play for the runner-up of the last edition of the Saudi Pro League, including Seko Fofana, Marcelo Brozovic, Alex Telles, David Ospina, and Ghislain Konan.
At 31 years old, the Bambali-born player will experience his fifth league, having previously played in Ligue 1 (FC Metz), Austrian Bundesliga (RB Salzburg), Premier League (Southampton and Liverpool), and most recently in the German Bundesliga (Bayern Munich). On the other hand, Saudi Arabian side continues its crazy transfer window. As a reminder, the oil-rich state has already signed Karim Benzema, N’Golo Kanté, Riyad Mahrez, Kalidou Koulibaly, and Édouard Mendy this summer.
A challenging experience at Bayern Munich Sadio Mané leaves Bayern Munich after just one season, which turned out to be quite disappointing. Amid tensions and a nasty injury that kept him off the pitch for a while, the Senegalese forward played only 38 matches in all competitions, scoring only 12 goals.
Poor performances and unfortunate circumstances sealed his fate in Bavaria. While Bayern initially expected at least €30 million, including bonuses, matching the price of his transfer from Liverpool last summer, they eventually let the striker go for a fee of around €37 million. In the end, it appears to be a resolution that suits everyone involved.
