It had been announced for days, and now it’s official. Gonzalo Ramos is a player of PSG. The Portuguese player leaves Benfica for the Parisian club in the form of a loan with an option to buy. The news was announced by the reigning French champion on Monday evening.

With the arrival of Gonzalo Ramos, PSG finally gets a quality number 9. “It’s a great pride and immense happiness to join Paris Saint-Germain. PSG is one of the greatest clubs in the world with one of the best squads,” said Gonçalo Ramos in the club’s statement.

This is the seventh official signing for the club, a testament to the strong ambition of the Parisian management during this transfer window. Who is Gonçalo Ramos? Gonçalo Ramos is a Portuguese footballer born on June 20, 2001, in Olhão, in the south of Portugal. He joined the Benfica Lisbon academy in 2013. His professional debut was impressive, notably in a league match against Desportivo Aves in July 2020. At 19 years old at the time, he came on as a substitute in the 87th minute and scored a brace in just three minutes.

During the 2021/2022 season, he established himself in Benfica’s first team and had the opportunity to play in the Champions League. He became a formidable finisher and opened his goal account in this prestigious European competition during the quarter-final second leg against Liverpool in April 2022.

The following season, Gonçalo Ramos solidified his place as a starter and scored 27 goals in 47 matches across all competitions. He also earned his first cap for the Portuguese national team in a match against Nigeria on November 17, 2022, where he scored a goal and provided an assist. As a result, he was selected by coach Fernando Santos to participate in the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. During the tournament, he stood out by scoring a hat-trick against Switzerland in the round of 16. So far, he has 7 caps and 4 goals for the Portuguese national team.
