In Advanced Discussions with Arsenal for several days, AS Monaco officially announced on Wednesday the signing of Folarin Balogun. The French club announced the news through a statement on its website.
“AS Monaco is pleased to announce the arrival of striker Folarin Balogun from Arsenal. The 22-year-old American international has signed for 5 seasons and is now tied to the Monégasque club until June 2028,” AS wrote in its publication. According to information reported by Footmercato, this operation cost Monaco around 30 million euros.
In the previous season, Folarin Balogun had been loaned to the Stade de Reims team, where he had shone remarkably. He scored 22 goals and provided 3 assists in 39 matches across all competitions. A very good catch for Monaco.
Born in New York in 2001, Folarin Balogun moved to London with his parents at the age of 2. After showing early talent for football, he joined the London club Albersbrook and was spotted by Arsenal at the age of 8. After completing his training with Arsenal, he signed his first professional contract at the age of 17. In October 2020, he made his debut for Arsenal’s first team and scored his first goal shortly after. In 2022, he was loaned to Middlesbrough FC and then to Stade de Reims in Ligue 1, where he shone with 22 goals and 6 assists in 39 matches.
Folarin, originally a regular member of the English youth national teams, later chose to represent the American national team. Last June, the Brooklyn-born player received his first call-up to the US national team and played in the CONCACAF Nations League finals. Folarin scored his first goal for Team USA in the final against Canada (2-0) and won his first title with the team.
