In a statement published on its website this Monday, Manchester United announced a ten-year contract extension with its kit supplier Adidas, lasting until 2035.
“Adidas and Manchester United Football Club are delighted to announce the extension of one of the most exciting and significant partnerships in world sport,” wrote the Manchester-based club in its publication. “Manchester United struck a historic deal with Adidas at the beginning of the 2015/16 season, reuniting after 23 years,” added the Red Devils.
This collaboration revolves around a sum of 900 million pounds sterling, which is over 1 billion euros, as reported by Footmercato. “The relationship between Manchester United and Adidas is one of the most iconic in global sport, forged by a common commitment to style, fashion, and above all, high performance,” said Richard Arnold, the club’s managing director.
“We are extremely proud to announce the extension of the contract with Manchester United. Adidas and Manchester United are two of the most important brands in international football, and it is only natural for us to continue our cooperation. We will combine tradition and innovation to please both players and fans,” explained Bjorn Gulden, CEO of Adidas.
As a reminder, during the last season, Manchester United finished third in the Premier League, securing their return to the Champions League. In European competition, the Red Devils were eliminated in the quarter-finals of the Europa League by FC Sevilla, the eventual winner of the tournament.
