Confirmed for days, the transfer was officially announced on Thursday. Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson is leaving the club and joining Al-Ettifaq in Saudi Arabia. He will be reunited with Steven Gerrard, a Liverpool legend and the current coach of the Saudi Pro League team.

The news was announced by Liverpool through an official statement on their website. “Liverpool Football Club can confirm that Jordan Henderson has completed his transfer to Al-Ettifaq. The midfielder ends his 12-year career with the Reds, during which he won eight trophies. Henderson arrived at Anfield from Sunderland in the summer of 2011, at the request of then-manager Sir Kenny Dalglish,” read the publication from the English club.

According to information reported by Footmercato, Jordan Henderson has signed a three-year contract with his new club. During this period, he will earn a salary of approximately £108 million, equivalent to around €124 million. The transfer of the English midfielder from Liverpool to Al Ettifaq was valued at just over €13 million.

Arriving at Liverpool in 2011 after playing at Sunderland, his youth club, Jordan Henderson gradually established himself as an essential midfielder for the Reds. His journey led him to be named captain of the team under the management of Jurgen Klopp, a responsibility he has held since 2015. He notably played a crucial role in Liverpool’s conquest of the Champions League against Tottenham in 2019. The 33-year-old player proudly wore the Mersey club’s jersey on 492 occasions, in all competitions.
