More than six months after leaving FC Sevilla, Spanish midfielder Isco has joined Betis Sevilla, another club in La Liga.
The other Seville-based club officially announced the news on Wednesday evening through a video inspired by Game of Thrones on their social media channels. They further specified in their official statement on their website that: “Real Betis Balompié has added Isco Alarcón to its ranks. The footballer from Malaga has committed to the Verdiblanca entity until 2024.”
The 31-year-old player is set to revive his sports career, which has been stagnant for a few years. He joins Betis as a replacement for playmaker Sergio Canales, who moved to the Mexican league.
Isco, born in Benalmádena, Málaga, in 1992, began his football career at Retamar before later joining Atlético Benamiel. At the age of 14, he joined the youth teams of Valencia CF, where he made his debut with the first team during the Copa del Rey.
In 2011, he signed with Málaga CF, where despite his young age, he quickly became a key player. He remained there until his transfer to Real Madrid CF in 2013. During his nine seasons with the white team, Isco played 353 matches and won 19 titles, including 5 Champions League titles. Last season, he played for Sevilla FC.
Internationally, Isco has represented Spain 38 times as a full-fledged player, scoring 12 goals. He was also part of the Spanish team that participated in the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
