It was expected, and now it’s official. Benjamin Pavard is leaving Bayern Munich for Inter Milan. The Italian club announced the news on Wednesday evening through a statement on their website.

“Benjamin Pavard is a new player for Inter. The French defender born in 1996 is transferred from Bayern Munich,” stated the Nerazzurri, who did not confirm the duration of the contract signed by the former Bayern player. However, according to Footmercato, the Frenchman has signed a 5-year contract in Italy.

According to Footmercato, this transfer cost Inter around 28 million euros, plus an additional 5 million in bonuses. Considering the departures of Milan Skriniar, Danilo D’Ambrosio, Lorenzo Pirola, and Raoul Bellanova this summer, Inter’s team needed to reinforce its defense with a player capable of playing on the flanks, and Pavard’s profile had particularly caught the attention of the management. The French international is a quality addition to his new team, especially due to his versatility. After four years at Bayern Munich, with several trophies won, the 2018 World Cup champion still has ambitions.

“Inter is a winning club. Just look at the trophies behind me. I play football to win, that’s why I decided to join Inter,” Pavard said on Inter’s website after signing his contract. He added, “I want to win the Scudetto so that Inter gets its second star. I live to win trophies, and it’s important for the fans and the Club. I will do everything I can to win as many titles as possible. We have world-renowned players in the squad who will help us win them.”
