In a statement released on Monday evening, Borussia Dortmund announced the arrival of Marcel Sabitzer from Bayern Munich. The 29-year-old Austrian midfielder, who had an unsuccessful loan spell at Manchester United, has signed a four-year contract with BVB.

“Borussia Dortmund has strengthened its central midfield with Marcel Sabitzer from FC Bayern Munich. The 29-year-old vice-captain of the Austrian national team underwent a medical examination in Dortmund today and then signed a work contract valid until June 30, 2027. Sabitzer will join the BVB squad, which is traveling for a test match in the United States on Monday, Tuesday, along with BVB’s sporting director, Sebastian Kehl,” the publication of the Yellow and Blacks states.

Pushed towards the exit by Bayern Munich, the 29-year-old player will now try to revive his career, which has been inconsistent since his departure from Leipzig. “I’m looking forward to finally joining the team and wearing the BVB jersey. The discussions with Borussia Dortmund’s management have been excellent and have shown me how ambitious the club is in the years to come. I would like to do my part to help BVB achieve its goals and give fans every reason to celebrate something special again as soon as possible,” he stated in the statement announcing his arrival.
