While the club recently announced the end of its transfer window, Chelsea officially confirmed the arrival of the young talent Cola Palmer from Manchester City on Friday. A significant move for the Blues, who proudly announced the news through a statement on their website.

“Palmer has signed a seven-year contract, with an additional one-year option for the club, and will join Mauricio Pochettino’s team before our Premier League match against Nottingham Forest (this Saturday, 4 pm),” the London club wrote.

Chelsea has invested approximately 50 million euros to acquire this 21-year-old young talent, who has only made 41 appearances in professional competitions, mainly as a substitute. This transfer represents a risky bet, but the club has absolute confidence in the potential of this English player. In fact, the co-sporting directors Laurence Stewart and Paul Winstanley stated:

“Cole arrives with experience of winning the Premier League and Champions League and adds further quality and versatility to our attacking unit. He has demonstrated his talent and potential in the most challenging environments and fulfilled his promises on the international stage for England this summer at the Under-21 European Championships. He is undoubtedly ready for this next step, and we are thrilled that it is with Chelsea.”

On his side, Cole Palmer is ready to prove his worth. “I’m thrilled to get started, and it’s great to sign. I joined Chelsea because the project here sounds good, and with the platform, I will have to try to show my talents. It’s a young and hungry team, and hopefully, we can do something special here,” Palmer said for his new club’s website after signing his contract.

Who is Cole Palmer? Cole Palmer joined Manchester City’s academy at under-8 age and climbed through the club’s youth ranks. Captain of the Under-18 team in 2019/20, he contributed to winning the FA Youth Cup, scoring in the final against Chelsea. He made a few appearances for the first team that season, including in the Premier League against Chelsea.
