Renowned Nigerian singer Asake has made some revelations about his success. According to him, his journey has not been easy to reach the level he is at today.
Nigerian artist Ahmed Ololadé, known professionally as Asake, is now among the international showbiz celebrities, as well as in Nigeria. He was nominated at the recent Grammy Awards in the United States and has been nominated again for the 2024 edition.
To achieve this level of success, the young graduate in arts from Obafemi Awolowo University in Ile-Ife, Osun State, Nigeria, faced a real struggle. During an interview, Asake, whose stage name is derived from his mother’s name, shed some light on how he reached the top today. “In 2020, I texted Olamide to say, ‘Boss, please help me. You’ve helped many of my friends like Chinko Ekun and Fireboy.’ Unfortunately, he didn’t respond to my message,” he said.
A year after his request, Olamide responded by inviting him to join his label, YBNL Records. His collaboration with Olamide on the single “Amapiano” marked his meteoric rise in the music scene.
