Former Nigerian President, Muhammadu Buhari, has expressed his sadness over the deaths of several soldiers killed in an ambush and a helicopter accident in the Niger State.

According to the Defense Headquarters, 36 officers were killed in both ambushes and a helicopter evacuation accident. In a statement on Saturday, signed by his spokesperson Garba Shehu, Buhari also extended his condolences to President Bola Tinubu for the tragedy.

“I am saddened by the helicopter accident, following the tragic ambush in which we lost our brave military personnel. My thoughts are with the grieving families. I hope the injured recover soon. My sincere condolences to President @officialABAT, the Armed Forces of the Federation, and the families of the deceased. With the military discipline of our troops, it’s only a matter of time before they triumph,” the former president declared.
