An 84-year-old man, Gabriel Ahuwa, was arrested on Wednesday by the Edo State Police Command in southwestern Nigeria, for allegedly killing his 75-year-old wife over sexual denial, according to local media reports.
According to the spokesperson of the Ondo Police, SP Chidi Nwabuzor, the octogenarian was among the 198 suspects apprehended in the state for various crimes such as armed robbery, kidnapping, and murder, among others. “The suspect has no remorse. After killing his wife, he consistently claimed that his action was the only solution to end her sexual denial,” he stated to the press.
Speaking to journalists, the suspect confessed that his wife had been denying him sex for a long time. “My wife doesn’t listen to me. Every time I asked her to come to bed with me, she refused. We gave birth to seven children,” the suspect said.
“I reported my wife to my family and hers as well, but she didn’t listen to them and continued with her old habits. In the meantime, I heard that she was having sexual relations with pastors,” he added. He, however, admitted to regretting his actions. The man will be presented to the prosecutor, who will determine his fate.
