The crackdown on Mohamed Bazoum’s associates is taking a new turn in Niamey. This is the case with Foumakoye Gado, the former High Representative and President of the National Executive Committee of the Nigerien Party for Democracy and Socialism (PNDS-Tarayya). The Prosecutor of the Republic ordered his detention by issuing a warrant for his arrest.
Like other former authorities who have been arrested, Foumakoye Gado is suspected of economic crimes.
A prominent political figure in Niger, Foumakoye Gado has held a prominent position in the country’s governance for a long time. He served as Minister of Mines and Energy from April 1993 to October 1994, and then held the same position from April 2011 to September 2011. Between September 2011 and April 2021, Foumakoye Gado served as Minister of Petroleum.
