Since his ousting and detention by the military on Wednesday, July 27, 2023, Mohamed Bazoum was seen for the first time in public images on this Sunday.

The visit of Chadian President Mahamat Idriss Déby to Niger brought Mohamed Bazoum out in public. Since the coup d’état, he had not been seen in public.

Indeed, sent by ECOWAS to initiate talks aimed at resolving the crisis in Niger, Mahamat Idriss Déby had discussions with several individuals, including Mohamed Bazoum.

In the photo that illustrates the meeting between the two men, it is clear that Mohamed Bazoum was smiling. He appeared calm and composed.

The Status Quo… The ECOWAS envoy not only spoke with Mohamed Bazoum but also listened to the leader of the coup and former President Mahamadou Issoufou.

No public statements were made after the discussions, but sources indicate that the ECOWAS mission did not find even the beginning of a solution. The conflicting parties are still entrenched in their positions.
