American rap superstar Nicki Minaj was dazzled by Burna Boy’s standout performance at the Grammy Awards in Los Angeles. She expressed her excitement on her social platforms by announcing her intention to collaborate with the Nigerian artist, following her previous collaboration with another big Nigerian name, Davido.

Nigerian musicians continue to rise in popularity in the United States, with artists like Wizkid leading the pack, who has collaborated with global celebrities such as Rihanna, Beyonce, and Drake. Although Burna Boy was the first Nigerian artist to win a Grammy in 2021, his collaborations with American stars have not been as numerous.

However, the impending collaboration with Nicki Minaj promises to be unforgettable. An audio snippet shared by Minaj offers a glimpse into the fusion between her distinctive voice and Burna Boy’s single ‘Tested, Approved & Trusted’ from his seventh album, ‘I Told Them’. The project features contributions from renowned American rappers such as J Cole and 21 Savage, as well as the creative influence of Wu-Tang Clan members RZA and GZA.

The teaser unveiled by Nicki Minaj has sparked a lot of interest and shows her desire to build bridges between American rap and Nigerian Afro-Beats. This follows Burna Boy’s phenomenal performance at the Grammy Awards, where he made history by being the first African artist to perform live at the event. The upcoming collaboration with Burna Boy will be Nicki Minaj’s second engagement with a Nigerian artist; she previously lent her vocals to Davido’s song ‘Holy Ground’, taken from his album ‘A Better Time’.
