Mrs. Aloba, the mother of the late singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, also known as MohBad, has finally broken her silence days after her son’s untimely death. In an emotional video, she shared poignant details about MohBad’s final days, refuting rumors that her son was mentally unstable.
Speaking in Yoruba, Mrs. Aloba contradicted allegations that her son had suffered from mental disorders. According to her, the late rapper lived in constant fear during his final days. “My son was working in the studio when the other boys were arrested. He wasn’t even at home when the agents visited. Upon his release, MohBad told me they had given him something to drink, and from that day on, things started happening. My son lived in perpetual fear until his death,” she said.
MohBad’s troubles began after he joined Marlian Music, the record label owned by Afeez Fashola, aka Naira Marley. Mrs. Aloba revealed that her son had been beaten and mistreated by Naira Marley and his associates, and he even avoided several public appearances out of fear of encountering them.
She went on to express her grief and outrage over the tragedy. “MohBad was not mentally ill. I remained silent because I did not have the right to speak until now. He was married and had a son. How can such a person be called crazy?”
Mrs. Aloba pleaded for justice for her son and called on Nigerians to rally behind her. She said she had doubts since he announced his contract signing with Naira Marley.
As a reminder, the tragic death of MohBad, which occurred on September 12 at the age of 27, shook the Nigerian music industry and raised questions about the circumstances of his death. Tensions between MohBad and Naira Marley were well-known, culminating in a public feud in 2022, during which MohBad mentioned threats to his life.
