Charged following allegations of rape made by two young women against himself and his brother, Wissam Ben Yedder broke his silence this Wednesday. Through a statement from his lawyer, Me Hasna Louzén, the Monaco striker refutes all the accusations against him.
French football is shaken by another major controversy as international striker Wissam Ben Yedder, known for his dazzling play and talent on the field, faces serious allegations. Away from the spotlight of Ligue 1 stadiums, the player has been charged with accusations of rape, attempted rape, and sexual assault in early August.
Despite the pending accusations, Wissam Ben Yedder seemed to resume his professional rhythm without a hitch. His return to the Ligue 1 pitches was marked by a goal for his team, which continues to perform at full throttle. Silent since the start of this affair, Ben Yedder has spoken out through his lawyer Me Hasna Louzé, contacted by Nice Matin. Thus, the international striker “firmly contests the offenses attributed to him” and hopes that “justice can continue its work serenely without any kind of pressure.”
The case began when the prosecutor’s office in Nice initiated a judicial inquiry against Wissam Ben Yedder, leading to his detention for 48 hours between August 8 and 10. Following this detention, he was released under judicial supervision upon payment of a bail of 900,000 euros. In a striking turn, his 25-year-old younger brother is also facing the same charges. Two young women, aged 19 and 20, accuse the Ben Yedder brothers of alleged sexual acts that occurred during a party dating back to July 10.
