Assimi Goïta also acknowledged that the draft Constitution sparked intense debates during the referendum campaign, but he pointed out that a free and open democratic debate took place without any censorship. He reminded that despite differing opinions, the overwhelming majority in favor of the new Constitution reflects the will of the Malian people to seize this opportunity for change and progress.

The new Constitution is designed to establish a democratic system rooted in Mali’s indigenous and social values while being open to external influences. According to Assimi Goïta, this Constitution will modernize the Malian state while preserving its identity and unique character.

The Transitional Government’s President declared that this new step marks the beginning of “Mali Kura,” a fresh start for the country. Goïta emphasized the importance of leveraging new technologies and valorizing the country’s natural resources while considering opportunities presented by the energy transition.
