PSG secured its first victory of the season on Saturday evening, during the third matchday of Ligue 1. Playing at home, Parisians won with a score of 3-1. Kylian Mbappé scored a brace.
After two frustrating draws against Lorient (0-0) and Toulouse (1-1), PSG finally kickstarted its season on Saturday evening. In the context of the third league matchday, Parisians defeated Lens with a score of 3-1. The victory took a while to shape up.
The first goal of the match came at the end of the first half. Marco Asensio scored (1-0, 44th minute), his first goal in the colors of his new club. At the beginning of the second half, Kylian Mbappé extended the lead (2-0, 52nd minute), before completing his brace towards the end of the match (3-0, 90th minute). Lens’ consolation goal did not change the outcome.
The first victory and a strong performance satisfied PSG’s coach, Luis Enrique. “We all like it when it’s positive. We knew it would be tough against Lens, they posed problems, but we won this match. It wasn’t a very tactical game, but intense with two teams pressing high. I really like what Lens is as a team,” he assured on Canal +, as reported by Footmercato.
He also discussed his attacking duo of Mbappé and Dembélé. “Players of very high level, but it’s not just because of them. It’s everyone. We are a team and we have goals to achieve,” Enrique added.
