Faced with a situation of persistent uncertainty and ambiguity surrounding the holding of the 2023 legislative and regional elections, the National Alliance for Change (ANC) has taken the initiative to address a request to the Independent National Electoral Commission (CENI) for the disclosure of the electoral schedule.
As the mandate of the current members of the National Assembly comes to an end in less than four months, the precise date of the legislative elections, determined by the Constitution, is still unknown. This situation raises legitimate concerns within the ranks of the opposition.
In this context, the ANC, during a press conference on Thursday, called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (CENI) to disclose the electoral schedule. The president of the ANC, Mr. Jean-Pierre Fabre, emphasizes that the communication of the electoral timeline is crucial so that all political actors can plan and direct their efforts appropriately.
The focal point of this request lies in the necessity to avoid an imbalance in the electoral process, particularly in response to growing concerns that the ruling party, the Union for the Republic (UNIR), may have already begun its pre-campaign while the opposition remains hindered from doing the same.
It is worth recalling that the provisional electoral lists were posted at all Voter Registration and Voting Centers (CRVs) on Thursday, July 20th.
