The Togo Directorate of Cadastre, Land Conservation, and Registration (CCFE) embarked on a process of digitizing its services ten years ago. This transformation has led to the implementation of a digital land registry, enabling real-time tracking of case processing.
Since the implementation of this system, the CCFE has observed a significant increase in the number of requests received each year. In fact, more than 1,300 requests are now received annually, compared to just 400 in 2015, according to Wami Obossou, the director of CCFE.
Furthermore, the registration costs have been reduced from 5% to 1.5% of the current market value of the properties. As for property transfers, they now cost 35,000 Fcfa. This cost reduction serves as an incentive for property owners to comply with regulations.
A step towards better land management The digitalization of CCFE services represents a significant step towards improved land management in Togo. It not only facilitates the processing of cases but also makes the process more transparent and accessible for property owners.
The CCFE’s initiative could serve as a model for other public administrations in Togo and the region, demonstrating how digitization can enhance the efficiency and transparency of public services.
