The Senegalese Football Federation (FSF), which had earlier denied the sanctioning of Krépin Diatta, has ultimately confirmed it.
Senegalese international Krépin Diatta has indeed been sanctioned by the African Football Confederation (CAF). On Wednesday, February 14, 2024, the Senegalese Football Federation (FSF) had not confirmed the news. It had even stated that it had not received an official notification from the CAF. However, shortly after, the federation issued a correction.
In a new statement from the FSF viewed by Afrique-sur7.ci, it is clearly stated that Krépin Diatta, player number 15 of the Senegal national team, is suspended for “4 official matches with the Senegal A national team, 2 of which are suspended for a duration of one year in accordance with articles 82, 131, and 95 of the CAF disciplinary code”.
Krépin Diatta is also required to pay a fine of 10,000 US dollars in accordance with articles 82, 131, and 91 of the CAF disciplinary code. He must pay this amount within 60 days of the notification.
Having received the information about the sanction, Krépin Diatta and the Senegalese Football Federation have taken note. However, they do not intend to implement it automatically. The Senegalese Football Federation is considering filing an appeal “to have the decision amended or to reduce the pronounced sanctions”.
