A former Kenyan journalist, renowned for his investigative prowess, who is currently serving a ten-year prison sentence for the death of his wife, has recounted how it all unfolded.
In 2018, a Kenyan court sentenced Moses Dola, an investigative journalist, after determining that he was the dominant party in the altercation with his late wife, Sarah Wambui, which tragically led to her death.
Dola, who before his incarceration worked at NMG, Radio Africa, and Citizen TV, revealed heart-wrenching details in an interview on Njera-Ini Citu of Inooro TV, as reported by Pulse Ghana. He recollects that on May 1, 2011, he had woken up early to listen to music but noticed his wife was unhappy and complained that the music was too loud.
“In her anger, she went to disconnect my music from the radio and returned. At that point, I was also angry and went back to reconnect the music, but I lowered the volume,” he recounted. It was at that moment that a heated argument erupted between the couple, quickly spiraling out of control.
“She saw me looking for our son and came at me with scissors in her hand. I tried to escape her, and that’s when we both fell. Unfortunately, she hit her head against the bed, and her injuries proved fatal,” Dola narrated.
The convicted individual expressed remorse for the incident and his wife’s death in 2011. He shared how they met in the newsroom where they both worked and fell in love, highlighting the need for a double dose of patience in a relationship.
