The widow of the eminent journalist Jerome Carlos has revealed some details about the circumstances of his passing on Tuesday, January 16, 2024.
The renowned Beninese journalist, columnist, and writer, Jerome Carlos, passed away on the afternoon of Monday, January 15, 2024, at his home. According to his widow’s account, he had appeared to be in good health upon waking up. “He woke up in good spirits, had a good day, went down to write his column, which was supposed to come out this Thursday. Then, he went upstairs quietly while I was busy in the kitchen,” she recalls.
She continued by noting that she realized he was missing when she went to join him to watch the Senegal football match together. “I went upstairs to join him because he wanted to watch the Senegal football match… I didn’t find him in the room, I went down quickly to the bathroom, and he was unresponsive. I did everything I could. The doctor came immediately, we tried to resuscitate him, but honestly…” she shared with Bip radio.
For Jerome Carlos’s widow, her husband was a very thoughtful, gentle, and patriotic man who loved his country and, above all, his family.
