The SYNAREP-CI, the National Union for the Revalorization of Planters in Ivory Coast, organized a training seminar in Abidjan-Yopougon on Saturday, July 29, 2023, requesting President Alassane Ouattara to revalorize the price of agricultural products.
This workshop was organized to train 36 regional delegates and 14 members of the National Executive Bureau on the effective implementation of projects for electrifying rural households through solar panels and revitalizing plantations with biostimulant fertilizers.
Indeed, the SYNAREP-CI takes the initiative to provide concrete solutions to some of the most urgent problems faced by planters in the rural regions of Ivory Coast. This initiative is beneficial given the difficulties that affect the agricultural sector.
The first objective of the project is to address the electricity issues in villages and hamlets where the planters live. Additionally, rural development depends on access to electricity, which can improve the living conditions of farmers by providing them with access to electrical equipment, lighting, and other essential services.
During the seminar, the general secretariat of SYNAREP-CI emphasized the importance of the role of regional delegates in the successful implementation of projects for electrifying rural households. These delegates will be crucial in initiating initiatives to provide reliable and clean energy to agricultural regions while informing local communities about the benefits of biostimulant fertilizers for healthier and more abundant harvests.
The National Union for the Revalorization of Planters in Ivory Coast focuses on reducing the use of chemical fertilizers, which are often responsible for many diseases, in the second part of the project. The introduction of biostimulant fertilizers represents a significant step towards sustainable agriculture.
The National Secretary-General of SYNAREP-CI, Valentin Koulahi, emphasizes the importance of biostimulant fertilizers. “The use of biostimulant soil fertilizer will allow us to cultivate organic products at a lower cost while improving agricultural productivity, providing farmers with the ability to manage their resources effectively,” he explains.
Furthermore, the leader of SYNAREP-CI expressed his desire for satisfactory measures for planters to be announced in his speech on August 6. “Mr. President of the Republic, be aware that we planters in Ivory Coast have now decided to take our responsibilities. On July 22, 2023, we organized a national day for planters in Ivory Coast during which, Mr. President, we requested a revalorization of the price of our agricultural products for this year. We ask that in your speech on August 6, on the eve of the independence of the Republic of Ivory Coast, we planters would also like to benefit from the advantages you granted to all these civil servants of Ivory Coast in your 2022 speech. This year, we want it to be a year for the planters of Ivory Coast,” emphasized Valentin Koulahi.
Finally, the SYNAREP-CI strives to meet the challenge of revalorizing planters in Ivory Coast through various initiatives. For this union, the success of these various projects will depend on the commitment and cooperation of all actors involved, from decision-makers to the planters themselves, but a step towards a better future has been taken.
