Ivorian reggae singer, Serge Kassi, has revealed details about his strained relationship with Alpha Blondy. He shared this during his appearance on the Peopl’Emik show on Channel 3.

Serge Kassy was recently a guest on the Peopl’Emik show, broadcasted on Channel 3. During the discussion, he talked about his relationship with the Ivorian reggae star, Alpha Blondy. According to him, Alpha Blondy is like an older brother to him. He deserves respect as he revolutionized African-made reggae, even making an impact in Europe. “He held his ground against all the top artists of his time. He traveled to Jamaica to record music, and the Jamaicans realized that there was another talented artist in Africa who could fill stadiums,” Serge Kassy expressed.

Unfortunately, their good relationship faced challenges, especially after the post-electoral crisis, during his 12 years of exile in France. “He did things that you don’t do to a younger brother. The younger brother reacted. I don’t want to go into detail about it,” highlighted Serge Kassy.

In conclusion, Serge Kassy stated that as a good younger brother, he made efforts to reconcile with Alpha Blondy upon his return to the country. However, Alpha Blondy was not receptive at all. Nevertheless, Serge Kassy still hopes that they will restore their relationship to what it once was. “We are no longer young. We are in the second phase of our lives on earth. We shouldn’t depart to eternity with conflicts. Alpha is an ambassador of peace. I rely on time to do its work. When he is ready to receive me, we will talk. Our differences will likely be resolved,” he hopes.

As a reminder, Serge Kassy, the reggae singer who recently returned to his homeland after 12 years of exile in France, released a 13-track album titled “Le Ressuscité” (“The Resurrected”). He returned to Côte d’Ivoire alongside artists François Kençy and Gadji Céli.
