Henri Konan Bédié, President of the Democratic Party of Côte d’Ivoire (PDCI) and former Ivorian head of state, passed away on Tuesday, August 1, 2023, at the PISAM clinic in Abidjan.
The death of Henri Konan Bédié, the former President of the Republic of Ivory Coast, has not been officially confirmed yet, but several sources close to his family confirm it. He suffered a discomfort early in the day and was transported by helicopter from Daoukro to Abidjan for medical attention.
According to information from BENIN WEB TV, his political party, the PDCI, is expected to announce his death in the coming hours.
As a reminder, the former head of state, who celebrated his 89th birthday in May, had a slight discomfort at the Saint-Paul Cathedral in Plateau (Abidjan) and had to leave the place quickly. On the same day, he showed good health, being present with Cardinal Jean-Pierre Kutwa. According to his communication team, this incident was due to a heat stroke caused by the ambient humidity and poor ventilation at the Saint-Paul Cathedral in Plateau.
