African Swine Fever virus has been detected since July 23, 2023, in the department of Soubré, in the Nawa region (southwest of Ivory Coast), as reported by KOACI.
According to our source, suspicious deaths of pigs have been reported in the Gabon neighborhood of the commune of Soubré. On July 24, 2023, an investigation led to the collection of samples that were sent to the National Laboratory for Agricultural Development Support (LANADA) for analysis. It is claimed that the results confirmed the presence of the African Swine Fever (ASF) virus in the department of Soubré.
It is important to note that African Swine Fever does not pose a threat to human health, but it negatively affects the animal capital of farmers, limits the possibilities of intensifying livestock farming, and restricts access to animal and product markets.
As a reminder, African Swine Fever is a highly contagious viral hemorrhagic disease that affects domestic pigs and wild boars.
