During the celebration of the 24th Throne Day in Abidjan on Monday, July 31, 2023, H.E. Abdelmalek Kettani, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Morocco to Ivory Coast, emphasized the strength of the ties between the two nations and the importance of their collaboration.
The celebration of the enthronement of King Mohammed VI of Morocco renewed affection towards the Moroccan monarch and reaffirmed the country’s commitment to international cooperation. Kettani also highlighted the fraternal friendship between Morocco and Ivory Coast. “We share a common history of over 60 years. Our two countries have established a fruitful bilateral relationship based on respect, trust, and the will to build a better future for our peoples,” the ambassador stated.
Furthermore, he congratulated President Alassane Ouattara for providing a significant boost to the economic and social development of Ivory Coast and emphasized the importance of South-South cooperation in the current context of global challenges such as COVID-19, climate change, and social inequalities.
Additionally, Kettani mentioned several economic and social projects initiated by King Mohammed VI in Ivory Coast, including the Locodjoro and Grand Lahou landing stages, the Mohammed VI Multisectoral Training Center in Yopougon, the preservation and enhancement project of Cocody Bay, and the Mohammed VI Mosque in Abidjan.
In terms of diplomacy, he highlighted Ivory Coast’s constant support for Morocco in international and continental organizations to restore its territorial integrity and expressed gratitude to the Ivorian government for fostering a conducive climate for bilateral cooperation.
“Together, we can overcome obstacles, achieve significant progress, and positively contribute to the development of our region and the entire African continent,” he concluded.
