Despite the warning from President Ibrahim Koulibaly-Kuibiert, the Independent Electoral Commission (CEI) expressed concern in a statement on Sunday, August 20, 2023, about electoral propaganda acts involving 237 candidates.
The institution plans to examine these acts during an extraordinary session in order to take appropriate measures in accordance with the law. Furthermore, it emphasized the importance of strictly adhering to electoral laws, stating that violations of these laws could lead to the invalidation of candidacies or even the cancellation of elections.
In addition, the CEI cautioned media outlets and social media influencers to abide by the rules established by regulatory bodies such as the High Authority of Audiovisual Communication (HACA) and the National Press Authority (ANP), in order to avoid any disruption of the voting process.
Ultimately, the CEI underscored the need for citizen responsibility and republican spirit from all involved stakeholders to ensure transparent and fair elections. As a reminder, the electoral campaign begins on August 25 at 12:00 AM and ends on August 31 at midnight.
