The new AC Milan recruit, Samuel Chukwueze, is determined to make his mark in the club’s history, emphasizing that he is in Italy to win trophies with the Rossoneri.
The Nigerian international joined AC Milan this summer from Villarreal after prolonged discussions between the two clubs. The negotiation process took time as the Yellow Submarines initially demanded €35 million, but they eventually accepted €20 million plus an additional €8 million from the Italian giants.
Chukwueze held his introductory press conference as a Milan player on Wednesday, after making his debut in the final minutes of the Trofeo Berlusconi match against Monza the previous evening, which Milan won on penalties.
In his speech, the 24-year-old player, who scored 13 goals last season for the Yellow Submarines, stated that he was in Milan to make history. “A player grows year by year. I want to enter history with Milan. I did well in Spain, and this is a great opportunity to show my talent. I already set my goal, so don’t worry,” he told reporters.
“I’m looking forward to starting. I think we have the team to beat anyone in Serie A, so facing Inter, Juventus, it’s certain we can beat them. I didn’t come here to watch or earn money. I’m here to win trophies. My job is to play football and write my name in Milan’s history, so that people remember me in the future,” he continued.
“I want to make a name for myself and make a name for Milan. I can’t come here and not win. My top priority is to win something – the Scudetto, the Champions League, the Coppa Italia,” concluded the Nigerian forward. It’s worth recalling that the Serie A season will resume in two weeks.
