The fine for not wearing a helmet has now been reduced by the Minister of Interior and Public Security. It has been lowered from 10,000 CFA to 5,000 CFA.
The Benin government announced a reduction in the fine for not wearing a helmet. The announcement was made public on Wednesday, April 24, 2024, through a communiqué signed by the Minister of Interior and Public Security, Alassane SEIDOU. According to the communiqué, the fine is now set at 5,000 CFA instead of 10,000 CFA.
Further in the communiqué, the government discussed the importance of adhering to existing traffic regulations on public roads in the Republic of Benin. It also lamented the unfortunate incidents that occur between the Republican Police officers and road users. Additionally, the government reminded police officers to always exhibit professionalism under all circumstances.
