Lionel Messi has officially surpassed Cristiano Ronaldo as the footballer with the most Guinness World Records.
The newly-signed Inter Miami forward, Lionel Messi, has overtaken his arch-rival Cristiano Ronaldo to become the footballer with the most Guinness World Records. The Argentine superstar broke the hearts of many Barcelona fans by choosing to join the MLS side after his contract expired at PSG. The 36-year-old player started his life in the United States in style, scoring three goals in his first two games with Inter Miami.
GWR updated the table of the most Guinness World Records titles held by footballers this Tuesday. “For now, Messi is ahead of Ronaldo. Lionel Messi has 41 @GWR titles while Cristiano Ronaldo has 40,” it is written on the reference book’s Twitter account.
Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi have been competing for the title of the greatest footballer of all time for 15 years. Both celebrities now ply their trade outside of Europe, but the debate continues to rage and will likely persist even years after their retirement.
