American rapper Ja Rule recently made a notable contribution by laying the foundation stone for a new school in Ghana. Together with his wife and team, he took the opportunity to explore historically significant locations within the country.

This is part of a larger trend where figures from the Afro-American diaspora seek to reconnect with Africa, the cradle of their ancestors. These celebrities aim to leave a positive mark on the continent through their involvement in various social programs. Jeffrey Bruce Atkins Sr, better known by his stage name Ja Rule, is following this trend by supporting an educational project in Ghana.

Hailing from Queens, New York, Ja Rule has selected the Anglican school of Nuaso in eastern Ghana to build new classrooms. The non-governmental organization Pencils Of Promise, dedicated to improving access to education, is overseeing this project. Following in the footsteps of other American celebrities like Michael Blankson and Lil Jon, Ja Rule is showing his commitment to education, a cause that is close to his heart.

Beyond his educational project, Ja Rule and his family spent time visiting important sites around Accra, including the memorial park and mausoleum dedicated to Kwame Nkrumah, the founding father of Ghana’s independence, just before their departure on April 11th.

As a reminder, he had shared his intention back in January on his X account to build a school in the land of Kwame Nkrumah. “I’m building a school in Ghana and can’t wait to go over there and break ground… I love kids!!!”, he had written.
