In a friendly match held at the Tokyo Olympic Stadium this Wednesday, Manchester City overcame Bayern Munich with a score of 2-1.
Before the start of the new season in Europe, clubs refine their preparations by playing friendly matches. One such match on Wednesday in Japan featured Manchester City, the recent winners of the Champions League, against Bayern Munich. In a closely contested encounter, it was the English team that emerged victorious, just as they did in the quarter-finals of the Champions League last season, with a scoreline of 2-1.
The talented English midfielder James McAtee opened the scoring for Manchester City in the 21st minute, following a fine play by Rico Lewis and a slight mistake by Yann Sommer (1-0). Battling throughout the game, Bayern believed they had secured a draw with Mathys Tel’s equalizer in the 81st minute, but that was not accounting for Aymeric Laporte. The Spanish defender scored the winning goal for Manchester City in the dying minutes of the match (2-1, 86th minute).
Manchester City will continue their preparations with another friendly clash against Atletico Madrid scheduled for July 30th. Meanwhile, Bayern Munich’s next outing will be against Kawasaki of Japan.
