The coach of the Junior Cheetahs has talked about his team’s objective at the Francophonie Games taking place in Kinshasa, DRC. And the Beninese technician has assured that his team is aiming for the trophy.
Their journey to Abidjan in Ivory Coast, where they finished on the third step of the podium, has barely ended when the Junior Cheetahs are already engaged in another competition. The Beninese U20 team is participating in the ninth edition of the Francophonie Games held in Kinshasa, DRC. Placed in Group A, the Benin team secured a 2-0 victory over the host team in their first match.
A successful start for David Tchetchao and his team, who will now attempt to secure their spot in the semi-finals against Mali, this Tuesday. A new challenge that doesn’t, however, scare Mathias Déguénon, who is very confident about this West African showdown against the Eagles. Moreover, the Beninese technician assures that his players are in Congolese territory to win the trophy of this tournament.
“Our objective in coming to Kinshasa is to reach for the trophy and take home the gold medal. We had the tournament in Abidjan, which allowed us to prepare ourselves. Facing the Democratic Republic of the Congo, the young players got off to a good start in the competition, and it is with this morale that we will approach the other matches. We need to stay focused,” declared Mathias Déguénon in the mixed zone after the victory against DRC.
