Eliminated from the group stages in a tournament they are hosting, the U20 Leopards of DRC concluded their participation in the 9th Francophonie Games with an honorable victory against Congo (1-0).
The team led by Guy Bukasa won the 5th place match against Congo Brazzaville’s Diables Rouges (1-0) on Thursday, August 3, at Tata Raphaël Stadium in Kethule.
The only goal of the match was scored by Mbede in the 4th minute, allowing the young Leopards to secure a victory and finish the games with a smile. This is the second consecutive victory for the U20 Leopards in the River Derby, following their win in the “Fatshi Cup” tournament last July at Martyrs of Pentecost Stadium. In the match for the 7th place, Senegal secured a victory against Lebanon (3-0).
The semi-finals will take place on Friday, August 4, at Tata Raphaël Stadium. Benin will face Burkina Faso at 3:00 PM GMT, followed by the match between Cameroon and Niger at 6:00 PM GMT. These matches will determine the finalists of this edition of the Francophonie Games.
