French President Emmanuel Macron has firmly reiterated France’s stance regarding the annexation of Ukrainian territories by Russia. In a video message broadcast during the “Crimea Platform” summit, Macron underscored France’s refusal to recognize the annexation and the contested election results held in the region.
During the annual “Crimea Platform” summit, an initiative launched by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to highlight Ukrainian sovereignty over the Crimean Peninsula, French President Emmanuel Macron categorically reaffirmed France’s position on the annexation of Ukrainian territories by Russia.
Macron’s pre-recorded video message was broadcast to an international audience. In his statements, the French President unequivocally expressed France’s absolute refusal to recognize Russia’s annexation and the results of the disputed elections in the affected regions. This declaration comes in response to earlier comments by former French President Nicolas Sarkozy, who deemed any attempt to reverse the Crimea issue as “illusory.”
Emmanuel Macron emphasized the need for sustained diplomatic pressure to resolve the situation and preserve Ukraine’s territorial integrity. He also called for coordinated action within the international community to maintain sanctions against Russia until it adheres to the principles of international law.
