In Marseille, a city in southern France, during a school integration party, a student was filmed eating a live mouse. An association for the defense and protection of animals has decided to file a complaint after this “challenge” undertaken by the young man.

During an integration party for preparatory classes at the Thiers High School in Marseille, a young man reportedly accepted a dare: to put a live mouse in his mouth. After completing the challenge, the young man could have simply spit out the animal, but he ultimately decided to chew on it.

The mouse did not survive. This scene has been described as “unbearable” by 30 Million Friends, an association dedicated to the defense and protection of animals. The association, which works to advance animal rights, has announced, in a statement, that it will file a complaint for acts of cruelty and serious mistreatment resulting in the death of an animal. In France, serious mistreatment or acts of cruelty resulting in the death of an animal can be punishable by up to 5 years in prison and a fine of up to €75,000 (nearly 50 million CFA francs).
