The Luis Rubiales case is taking incredible proportions. According to information reported by several Spanish media outlets including Marca and Sport, Luis Rubiales’ mother has started a hunger strike.

The president of the Spanish Football Federation has been at the center of a storm for several days. Luis Rubiales is criticized for forcibly kissing the Spanish national team player, Jenni Hermoso, after the 2023 Women’s World Cup final. The controversy has escalated to the point that he has been temporarily suspended from his FIFA duties. And this matter took a new turn on Monday.

Indeed, according to local media like Marca and Sport, Angeles Béjar, the mother of Luis Rubiales, started a hunger strike on Monday morning inside a church, alongside her sister. Her goal is to put an end to what she calls a “inhumane and bloody hunt” targeting her son. She commits to remaining confined “day and night, indefinitely” until a solution is found to restore justice in favor of Luis Rubiales.

Convinced of her son’s innocence, Angeles Béjar insists that he is incapable of harming anyone. She expresses her bewilderment at the cruelty he is facing and doesn’t understand why he is being targeted in this way. In her plea, she also asks Jenni Hermoso to reveal the truth and maintain the version of events she initially presented.

A new turn on Monday? The Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) has decided to hold an exceptional and urgent meeting on Monday. The presidents of the Territorial Federations are summoned for this meeting, which will take place at the federation’s headquarters in Las Rozas (Madrid). The main goal of this meeting will be to analyze and assess the suspension imposed on Luis Rubiales by FIFA.

Simultaneously, the Spanish Administrative Court of Sport (TAS) has also planned to convene on Monday. During this meeting, it will review a request to suspend Luis Rubiales’ presidential duties, a request originating from the government. This Monday could therefore be crucial for Luis Rubiales.
