Australia qualified for the quarter-finals of the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup on Monday, after their 2-0 victory against Denmark. In the next round, the Australian team will face the winner of the clash between France and Morocco.
On Monday, Australia, co-host of the 2023 Women’s World Cup, faced Denmark in the round of 16 of the competition. In a controlled match, the hosts performed excellently and secured a 2-0 victory.
Caitlin Foord (29th minute) gave the Australian team the lead in the first half, which they maintained until halftime. After the break, the host country continued to be dangerous, and Hayley Raso doubled the lead to seal the fate of the match. Holding on to their advantage until the end, Australia qualified for the quarter-finals.
It is worth mentioning that after being eliminated in the round of 16 four years ago, the Australian players have reached the quarter-finals for the fourth time in this competition. Importantly, they will face the winners of the match between France and Morocco in this crucial stage. The latter two countries will clash on Tuesday in the last match of the round of 16 in the 2023 Women’s World Cup.
