David Hallyday, the eldest son of rocker Johnny Hallyday, is facing the issue of fake accounts impersonating him on social media. The 57-year-old singer spoke out on his own social platforms on September 5 to warn his fans.
David Hallyday revealed a message from one of the fake accounts announcing the creation of a new Instagram page. The impostor promises to show gratitude to the fans and asks them to respond with a heart emoji. Shocked, David Hallyday expressed his frustration and annoyance at these actions in his stories, stating, “Fed up with these idiots.” Unfortunately, this is not the first time that David Hallyday’s fans have fallen into such traps.
In 2020, a woman from Switzerland was deceived by a stranger impersonating Johnny Hallyday’s son. It all started in 2018 when she met this person on Hangout. He quickly introduced himself as Laura Smet’s brother.
“He made me believe so many things, with many promises,” she told Le Nouvelliste newspaper. Unaware of the deception, she agreed to send money to a prepaid card and made several trips to France. In just three months, she sent a total of 70,000 Swiss francs, equivalent to 65,000 euros, in anticipation of a promised marriage that would never happen.
Once she discovered the truth, she requested a refund, but her efforts were in vain. The prosecutor declined to pursue legal action, stating that “the victim should have been more cautious and conducted some basic checks.”
