Neymar has recently become a player for Al-Hilal in Saudi Arabia. While awaiting his official debut with his new team, the Brazilian athlete is engaging in a different domain. In fact, on Wednesday, he became the patron of the Brazilian Olympic dressage team, a discipline within equestrianism.
This appointment, which comes less than a year before the 2024 Paris Olympics, was officially announced through a statement from the footballer and his new partner. “I am very happy to join the Horse Team-Campline Horses family, and even more so to meet João Marcari Oliva and Renderson Oliveira, for everything they have done to bring Brazil to the pinnacle of equestrian sport,” enthused Neymar, during his visit to the Global Horse Team-Campline Horses Equestrian Center in Lisbon. “I have always been curious to learn more about horses, and I am eager to learn more about them and celebrate the upcoming victories,” explained the former PSG striker.
The statement highlights the fervent passion of the all-time leading scorer of the Brazilian national team (on par with Pelé) for equestrian disciplines. “This partnership is not only about sports but also about the values we share: teamwork, the defense of equality, the protection of animals, nature, and, of course, the love for Brazil,” Neymar added.
Dressage is an Olympic discipline within equestrian sports, deeply rooted in the tradition of classical riding. It is often seen as an art form, as the aesthetic pursuit of movement holds a central place. The essence of this practice involves nurturing the virtues of the horse or pony through harmonious education.
