According to information from the Daily Mail, Newcastle captain Jamaal Lascelles was involved in a massive street brawl on August 20th.
It appears that the events took place near Westgate Road, in the heart of Newcastle, a few hours after the defeat against Manchester City (1-0). During the night, the 29-year-old central defender decided to spend time with his younger brother and a friend. While they were near the pub “The Mile Castle,” Jamaal Lascelles became involved in a violent altercation involving multiple individuals. During this incident, he was reportedly threatened by someone who made violent threats against him and his brother.
According to the Daily Mail, after leaving the Chinawhite club, Lascelles, who is the captain of the Magpies, saw his younger brother being elbowed in the throat. He even narrowly avoided a vodka bottle that was thrown in his direction. The British newspaper reports that the fight involved “6 to 8 men” who confronted the 29-year-old player, his brother, and their friend. This group, apparently under the influence of alcohol, is believed to have instigated the attack.
Northumbria police reportedly arrived at the scene to end the altercation, while paramedics attended to Jamaal Lascelles’ unconscious friend. Jamaal’s brother was also injured in the face during the brawl. Since this incident, Eddie Howe’s right-hand man has not had the opportunity to play a single minute in the Premier League.
