The FIF responds to speculations regarding the salary of Emerse Faé, the head coach of the Ivory Coast national team.
Following the Elephants’ triumph in the African Cup of Nations 2023, Emerse Faé’s role as interim head coach has been a subject of much discussion. Recently, the president of the Ivorian Football Federation confirmed Faé in his functions as the head coach.
However, speculations about the compensation of the former Ivorian international started to spread online. Faced with the dissemination of these speculations, which feature widely varying amounts, the FIF officially reacted. Through a statement, the organization expressed its discontent with the spread of unfounded information, while warning of consequences for the parties responsible for these rumors.
The FIF, under the leadership of Yacine Idriss Diallo, also wished to clarify that the financial terms of the coach’s contract are covered by strict confidentiality.
“The salary of Mr. Emerse FAE, new Coach of the Elephants, is the subject of speculation on social networks. ‘The FIF refuses the salary he is demanding for a new contract of 40 million FCFA. The FIF is offering him 10 million, which is seven times less than the amount they paid Gasset.’
This publication is repeated by several pages, making people believe that the FIF wants to remunerate its Coach with a derisory salary.
This approach, which we condemn with the utmost energy, has just one objective: to incite Internet users to a media lynching of the current federal leaders. It’s deplorable.
It is good to note that the salary, being subject to a confidentiality clause, the FIF deplores this situation and warns those entities masked behind the pages which disseminate these unfounded and devoid of any veracity information.
The Executive Directorate wishes to remind that Mr. Emerse FAE, who has been one of the key craftsmen of Ivory Coast’s third star, has been confirmed as the Coach of the Elephants by the President of the FIF and its Executive Committee.
Mr. Emerse FAE is an employee of the FIF. Thus, the whole contractual procedure with Mr. Emerse FAE is following its normal course in all confidentiality and responsibility.
