Renowned entrepreneur Elon Musk recently made a major announcement regarding his social media application, X, formerly known as Twitter. In a message shared on Wednesday, August 30th, Musk revealed that X will soon be equipped with audio and video calling capabilities.
Elon Musk confirms the arrival of video calls on X. One of the distinctive features of this new functionality is its compatibility with various platforms, including Android, iOS, PC, and Mac. Additionally, users will be able to make audio and video calls without needing a phone number. “X is the efficient global address book. Video & audio calls coming soon,” stated the social network owner.
This announcement is part of Elon Musk’s ambitious project to transform X into a global application, akin to WeChat in China. The former Twitter owner aspires to provide users with a richer and more comprehensive experience, allowing them to communicate with loved ones, make online and in-store payments, as well as book a taxi.
The new audio and video calling feature on X is expected to be a major asset in attracting new users and enhancing the engagement of those already on the platform. Elon Musk made sure to emphasize that this innovation stands out from other solutions in the market by not requiring a phone number.
