The national coach of Egypt, Rui Vitoria, has unveiled his list of selected internationals for the September training camp. The Pharaohs will face Ethiopia in the qualifying match for the 2023 AFCON and Tunisia in a friendly match.

Like other African nations, Egypt will also participate in the AFCON 2023 qualifiers in September, scheduled for February 13 to February 11, 2024. The Pharaohs will face Ethiopia on September 8 in Cairo. This match counts for the sixth round of the qualifying phase of the continental tournament. Four days later, they will host Tunisia for a friendly match.

Already qualified for the final phase of the competition, the Egyptians have nothing to fear from the outcome of these two matches. But the North African team intends to use them to prepare for the AFCON, aiming to secure the trophy this time after losing in the final of the previous edition, defeated by Senegal in a penalty shootout.

A group of nine players, including several familiar names and a returning player. Naturally, the captain of the Pharaohs, Mohamed Salah (88 caps, 49 goals), is included. Returning after his last appearance in 2018, Sam Morsy (7 caps), the midfielder from Ipswich Town in the Championship, will also make his return.

Returning from injury, Mahmoud Trezeguet (61 caps, 11 goals) is also called up, as well as Mohamed Sherif from Al-Khaleej, Hamdi Fathi from Al-Wakrah, Ahmed Hamdi from CF Montréal, Tarek Hamed from Ittihad Jeddah, Omar Marmoush from Eintracht Frankfurt, and Mostafa Mohamed, the striker from FC Nantes.
